Gluten Free Pie Crust Recipe

We called on our friend, Jamie Younker (@jamiekay_photo), to give us the low-down on the best gluten free pie crust recipe. She is a talented gluten free cook, and this pie crust is as tasty and fail safe as a traditional gluten crust. Nearly every time she offers this crust to someone new, they are begging for this recipe. If you’re baking without gluten, give this recipe a try. 

Gluten Free Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c gluten free flour substitute (cup for cup blend)
  • ½ tsp xanthan gum
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Dash of sugar
  • ½ c butter
  • ½ c butter flavored shortening
  • 1 egg, cold
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 2-4 Tbsp water, cold

Instructions

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in the butter and shortening until the crumbles become pea sized. In a separate bowl, mix together the egg, vinegar, and ice water. Add this mixture to your butter mixture until well blended. Divide into two balls and refrigerate for at least an hour, covered with plastic wrap.
