We’ve all been there, the clock is ticking down on February 14th and you still have nothing planned and no reservations have been made. Whether it’s from working late, getting that last minute date, or even just loosing track of time, we’ve all struggled to think of last minute dinner ideas on a regular night, let alone on Valentine’s Day.

Fear no more. We have the best last minute dinner idea. It will leave an impression on the night, but most importantly, it will be delicious! This easy steak and salad dinner can be prepped, cooked, and delivered all in under 35 minutes!

What you’ll need for the steak

Pick out your favorite cut of steak. Try to keep it around 1 inch thick.

1/8 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup dry rub

One of the quickest ways to cook steak is by searing it. Searing means to simply caramelizing each side by placing it on a very hot surface for a short amount of time. You then bake the steak in the oven for about 5-9 minutes, depending on how well you would like it cooked. See our awesome step-by-step guide on how to sear the perfect steak here.

What you’ll need for the salad

3 tomatoes

1 avocado,

2 Burrata cheese balls

orange zest

2 tablespoons balsamic glaze

fresh basil (optional)

Caprese-Salad

For the salad, slice the tomatoes and avocado and place them in a bowl. Cut the burrata cheese balls in half and place one ball on top of each salad. Top with basil, orange zest, and balsamic glaze.

Gygi Pro Tip

If you only have balsamic vinegar, you can easily make a glaze by mixing 2 1/4 cups balsamic vinegar with 1/4 teaspoon of honey and a pinch of salt. Place the balsamic vinegar into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let the vinegar simmer until it turns thick and syrupy. Remove from heat and add the honey and salt. Stir and enjoy!

You now have a meal that looks like it took a lot of time and effort, but don’t worry, your secret is safe with us!
