For many, Valentine’s Day is a time to spend with family. That’s why we’ve made a great meal that is easy to make family style and still has a hint of the Valentines charm. Start by making your own pasta.
Homemade pasta is much easier than it sounds, plus, it gives your dish an artisan look and a richer taste. It’s a flavorful beginning to a family style dinner recipe perfect for Valentine’s Day.
What you’ll need
1 1/2 cups flour
Makes about 4 servings of pasta
For a step-by-step process on how to make your own pasta, see our very simple guide. Drop the pasta into boiling water for about 3-4 minutes, or until cooked all the way through. Drain your pasta and set aside.
How to top your pasta
8 tablespoons of truffle butter
1/2 cup mizithra cheese
Brown the truffle butter over medium heat. Toss the cooked pasta in a skillet and pour the browned butter over the pasta. Grate your mizithra cheese and toss with the pasta and butter.
Gygi Pro Tip
Since kid’s pallets love mild food, you can serve their plates with just the browned butter and mizithra. However, we suggest topping your noodle dish with some slow roasted tomatoes and capers, along with the browned butter and mizithra. Serve with a vegetable of your choice, we recommend asparagus, or another green veggie.
Gygi’s Drink Recommendations
For the adults, pair this dish with a light bodied red wine, such as a Pinot Noir. For the kids, try a cranberry juice mixed with a little Pellegrino for that extra Valentines touch.
