Gygi Guest Post Contest Winner: Michelle Lowry

Tuesday’s winner: Michelle Lowry of Design on a Dollar

Learn how to create your own Carameled Frapplestein as Michelle takes you through each step:

Here’s the nuts and bolts of how we assembled this friendly Carameled Fapplestein:

Hair:  Caramel and miniature chocolate chips. Use good caramel like the 5 lb. Peter’s Caramel Loaf (there’s also a lot of good information on it, and how to make your own caramel apples) … and trust me, it makes a big difference. Now, I know it seems like a lot. A whole 5 lbs. But it stores for a year and you don’t have to peel any of those awful wrappers. Bonus! I skewered the bottom of the apple first so that I could dip the top of his head in the caramel and chips. Then you can pull it out and place it on top properly.

Eyes: Miniature Oreos, mini chocolate chips for the pupils

Nose & Mouth: Get creative with you candy: We used Candy Corn, Jelly Beans, Boston Baked Beans, and Good & Plenty. Most of which, you can get at Gygi’s.

Neck Hardware: Tootsie Rolls, cut in half, held in place with a toothpick. You could use caramel here too… just shape some prior to melting.

I just drew on the stitches with a tiny bit of chocolate that I melted using a toothpick. All of the parts were attached with a little melted chocolate or caramel.

Oh the wheel are turning on more variations of this treat! How about a candied Frapplestein with a chocolate dipped hairline? I’d love to see what you come up with!
